Dear you,
Thank you for your interest in being a part of ‘Yours’.
I am so looking forward to meeting you.
My name is Harriet. I’m an artist and community worker. You can learn a bit more about me and my art practice by clicking on the links at the top of this page.
The ‘Yours’ project is about building connection between different generations. Our group will be made up of around 12 to 16 people: a mixture of children and seniors along with their parents and support people. My aim is to talk with you, hear about your lives and interests and create art with you in order to bring about an exhibition that explores life cycles and how we exist in relation to eachother.
We will meet in the studios at Goulburn Regional Gallery about once a month throughout the year of 2021 to connect and make art. The art workshops will be accessible to people of all ages and capabilities. Absolutely no previous art-making experience is necessary! Four and five-year-olds will be working with sixty, seventy, eighty and ninety-year-olds, with the support of their care-givers. All of us will be collaborating, connecting, and learning from one another.
The workshops themselves will take inspiration from the rural landscape surrounding Goulburn and we will experiment with ceramics, textiles, and natural found materials.
The Yours project is both an experience and an experiment. With your help I hope to build a small community of people who are at different stages of the life cycle. By making art with you I will learn from you, observe the ways that you are different and similar, and finally create an exhibition that explores how we live and how we are connected.
This project takes some inspiration from Intergenerational Care studies. Intergenerational Care is a model for the early learning sector to connect with the aged care sector through integrated classrooms, experiences and excursions. These projects have shown huge benefit for both seniors (i.e. improvement in mental and physical health) and children (i.e. improvement in development, empathy, and confidence).

It’s going to be lots of fun! I look forward to meeting you properly very soon.
Many thanks and my very best of wishes to you all,
Harriet.
